The book |
In New Zealand’s Best Trout Flies, 30 of the most successful anglers from around New Zealand share with us their thoughts and reminiscences of six of their favourite fly patterns. A number of them are professional fly tyers or are regularly consulted by major fly fishing tackle companies. Every fly is accompanied by details for tying and a colour photograph.
The contributors |
All of those who contributed to the book have extensive experience in fishing New Zealand waters. Some are professional guides and so their reputation and livelihood often depends on the reliability of their chosen fly patterns to ensure success for demanding clients. Many are actively engaged in competition fly fishing both locally and internationally meaning they have travelled and competed extensively overseas against the best anglers worldwide.
Several of the contributors are well known through their regular contributions to other fishing magazines and periodicals and angling books they have written. The foreword was written by Paul Dewar, Vice-President of Sport Fly Fishing New Zealand Inc. and captain of the NZ Fly Fishing Team
Illustrations |
The book is beautifully illustrated with paintings in water colour
by well-known South Island fly fishing artist Michael
Scheele. There are also vivid black and white sketches and
full colour photographs of scenery and wildlife around the country.
