Peter Scott

Peter Scott took up trout fishing in about 1993 spin fishing in the King country were his father is from, then a year later Roy Price from Hamilton took Peter to the Tauranga Taupo where he caught  a 7lb + rainbow and he has been hooked ever since.

Peter is one of New Zealand most consistently successful competition fly fishermen and has competed in eight consecutive National Championships to date. His achievements include: 1st Auckland Championship 1997, 1st National Championship 1997, World Championship 1998 Poland (team member), Oceania Championship 1998 NSW Australia (team member), World Championship 2001 Lapland Sweden (team member), Group winner Oceania Championship 2002 Tasmania Australia , 1st Individual National Pairs Competition 2002, 2nd National Championship 2005, Group winner  & 5th  Oceania Championship 2005.

Peter works in the fly fishing industry, is married to Lynley and has two sons Daniel & Ryan.

Peter is an Umpqua qualified fly tying instructor, and a partner in the New Zealand Fly Fishing Academy, teaching fly tying, fly casting and fly fishing on the river. He is on the organising committee of Sport Fly Fishing New Zealand Inc for the National and Oceania Championships and the venues committee for the upcoming 2008 World Championship. He has also fished various locations in the USA, including Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.

Past interests include Rugby league, Rugby union and Running. Running took over when Peter was in his 20 competing in road & cross country in many places including Australia, USA, Hawaii and around NZ .
